A Chinese Air Force Chengdu J-7 fighter jet crashed yesterday (Thursday) in a residential neighborhood in Hubei Province, in central China, near Laohekou Airport.

At least one person was killed and at least two others were injured, according to media reports. Heavy damage was also done to a number of homes that began to catch fire along with the plane after the crash.

The pilot managed to eject himself from the plane just before the crash and thus survived. In the documentation that came up on social networks, the pilot was seen sitting on the street with a supply of residents of the neighborhood taking care of him. He was very lightly injured.

The Chinese Air Force J-7 took off on the morning of Thursday, June 9 from Xiangyang Airport for a routine training flight. For some unknown reason the plane began to plummet and the pilot ejected and landed successfully. The aforesaid plane crashed into the residences and caused as mentioned death, two wounded and much damage.

Post-crash documentation posted on social media showed a large fire between the houses and heavy smoke billowing over the area.

It should be noted that this is the third air accident that has occurred since March this year.

Last month, a Tibet Airlines plane took off from Chongqing in the southwest of the country with 122 passengers. During takeoff the plane slipped on the runway and caught fire. It was then reported in the media that the 10-year-old plane, carrying registration code B-6426 was hit during takeoff and more than 40 people were injured.

“Tibet Airlines’ 9898 Flight, Airbus A319-115, was involved in a take-off accident at Chongqing-Jiangbei International Airport (CKG / ZUCK), China. Preliminary information indicates that the plane failed during takeoff and deviated from the route. “As a result, the plane crashed and a fire broke out, but all the passengers managed to get out of the plane,” the aviation safety network said of the incident.

Also, on March 12, a Boeing 737 on a flight from Kunming to Guangzhou crashed in Tangshan Province in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. All 132 people on board, including nine crew members, were killed.
