The Onelog platform is a victim of a cyber attack. The single sign-on platform shared by several Swiss media companies is currently not working. Since paying customers cannot log in, the publishing houses temporarily have free access to their content.
The Onelog single sign-on platform has stopped working since Thursday, October 24, 2024. The reason for this is a cyber attack, such as “Watson“ quoting information from media publisher Tamedia writes. We are working hard to find a solution to the outage.
It is not publicly known what exactly happened. The blog “Inside Paradeplatz” writes that all user data has been deleted and claims to be based on a message sent internally. It also says that Onelog has not been contacted by the cybercriminals responsible.
Content temporarily accessible
An alliance of CH Media, NZZ, Ringier, TX Group and SRG launched Onelog. From the end of 2021 onwards the platform is in place and standardizes the logins for the various Swiss media. Onelog received Digital Trust Label from the Swiss Digital Initiative. Swiss media companies also use the Onelog platform to learn more about their users and show them personalized advertising.
If the platform fails, users will no longer be able to log in to post reader comments, for example. However, paying customers are also affected as they can no longer access their e-paper without logging in. That’s why the media companies are temporarily donning their pants: Tamedia and other portals connected to Onelog temporarily made free access to the content of their titles and also opened access to the e-paper editions, as reports Watson.
