A delegation of the National Unity Government discusses with American officials ways to support the Libyan economy

During its visit to Washington to participate in the International Monetary Fund meetings with the National Security Advisor for North Africa at the White House, David Linfield, and the US Deputy Secretary of State for Africa and the Middle East, Joshua Volz, the delegation of the Government of National Unity discussed the government’s vision to stimulate the return of foreign companies to Libya, and develop the infrastructure of the sectors. Aviation and oil, in addition to the efforts of the National Oil Corporation to increase production.

Discussions with American officials focused on ways to enhance cooperation in the field of energy, with an emphasis on the return of American oil companies to invest in developing the infrastructure of the Libyan oil and gas sector, which contributes to supporting the Libyan economy and achieving development goals.

The government delegation also discussed the coordination of economic policies (commercial, monetary, and financial) through the Supreme Council for Economic Policies, the file of reopening the American embassy in Tripoli, and ways to finance strategic projects and provide guarantees.

The Libyan delegation stressed the importance of investing in infrastructure, energy and oil sectors in Libya, and the role of American companies in rebuilding the country and supporting its path towards stability and development.

The delegation of the National Unity Government includes the Minister of Transportation, the Acting Minister of Oil and Gas, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Economy, the official spokesman for the government, the head of the executive team for following up on strategic projects, and the director of the economic department at the Social Economic Development Council.
