The Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry announced on the 29th that it will hold the ‘2025 New Year Greetings’ at the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Jung-gu, Seoul on January 3 next year. The New Year’s Greetings, the largest New Year’s event in the economic world, began in 1962 and celebrates its 63rd anniversary this year. Starting in 2023, it was jointly hosted by the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Korea Federation of Small and Medium Businesses.

The Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry said, “Usually the New Year’s greetings are a time for exchanging well-wishes centered on the incumbent president,” but added, “This time, it will be a greetings meeting where business leaders will express their willingness to attend to a greater extent than in other years and solidify their will for growth in the spirit of overcoming economic uncertainty together.” “It is a prospect,” he said.

Former President Yoon Seok-yeol attended the business New Year’s greetings for two consecutive years until the beginning of this year, starting in 2023. Except for former President Moon Jae-in’s absence from the personnel meeting for five consecutive years, past presidents have attended every year unless there is a special event. Due to the impeachment situation, this New Year’s greetings event was unusually attended by neither the president nor the prime minister.

At the event on the 3rd, about 500 people from all walks of life, including businessmen representing the Korean economy, heads of economic organizations, political figures, media representatives, and diplomatic envoys to Korea, will attend and strengthen their commitment to overcoming the Korean economic crisis and taking a leap forward. Previously, through an official document on the 24th, the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry requested that major business events, such as the New Year’s Greetings in the business community, be held at the beginning of the year with a focus on regional chambers of commerce, requesting that gathering events be held during the year-end and New Year holidays.
