The number of people infected with monkey pox in Israel jumped today (Monday) when the Ministry of Health reports an increase of 16 people infected with monkey pox, when there are now 121 patients in Israel, compared to 105 on Saturday night.
In the meantime, the Ministry of Health announces that approximately 5,000 vaccines are scheduled to land in Israel tomorrow, and will be transferred as soon as possible to the health funds for the start of the vaccination operation in accordance with the criteria published by the Ministry of Health today. About 5,000 more vaccine doses are expected to arrive in the future. Sampling and testing options were expanded to the community – the health funds are prepared to carry out the sampling in clinics and the set of laboratories to detect the virus was expanded.
As I recall, on Saturday night the World Health Organization declared an “international emergency” regarding the spread of the virus.
This means that the World Health Organization now sees the outbreak as a significant enough threat that it requires a coordinated international response in order to prevent the virus from spreading even further, and that God forbid it becomes another global epidemic.
The Ministry of Health urges those who have developed a fever and a blistering rash or have been in close contact with a person who is suspected of having monkeypox to contact their attending physician. It is important to emphasize that patients with the disease and those defined as close contacts are required to avoid flights as long as there is a danger of infection, according to the guidelines of the World Health Organization.
