In two southern districts of the Chelyabinsk region – Kartalinsky and Nagaybaksky – a large natural fire was localized. They fought the fires for more than two days, the fire traversed a total of more than 14 thousand hectares, according to the regional government. An emergency situation has been declared in the region. To cope with the centers of open burning by Sunday morning, it was possible, among other things, to have a heavy rain that passed at night.
Due to the strong wind on Friday, the fire spread quickly, including being transferred to populated areas. According to the regional authorities, 72 buildings burned down, including 46 houses for permanent residence and 26 summer cottages. One person died – a 78-year-old man, whose body was found in the rubble of one of the houses in the village of Dzhabyk.
632 people and 142 pieces of equipment, including four aircraft and three trains, were involved in extinguishing the fires. 179 people were evacuated from the settlements affected by the fire. Five temporary accommodation centers were set up for them, later the number of temporary accommodation centers was reduced to two, since many preferred to go to their relatives.
The damage from the fire has yet to be determined. The victims have already begun to receive lump sum payments from the reserve fund in the amount of 10 thousand rubles. per family member, they will also be allocated 100 thousand rubles. in case of complete loss of housing and 50 thousand – in case of partial.
