On March 23, within the framework of the 148th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), a coordination meeting of the APA was held under the chairmanship of the Speaker of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan and the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) Sahiba Gafarova.
As Day.Az reports with reference to AZERTAC, welcoming the participants of the event, the Chairman of the Milli Majlis said that this meeting is the first coordination meeting held under the chairmanship of Azerbaijan within the framework of the Inter-Parliamentary Union of the APA.
At the meeting, a report on the activities of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly from the last meeting to the present was heard, and a short calendar of events planned until the end of the year was announced.
Then representatives of the organization’s member countries expressed their thoughts and proposals on current issues and touched upon topics that the APA countries will discuss within the framework of the 148th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union. The speakers agreed on developing a common position on international issues important to the APA.
The meeting continued with speeches on issues related to the general position of the participating countries of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly in the IPU Assembly, as well as the further strengthening of cooperation within the organization.
