Candidates for people’s representatives from “DPS – New Beginning” presented the priorities for governing Bulgaria to rectors and representatives of higher education institutions. The meeting was attended by Iskra Mihailova – deputy chairman of DPS and leader of the lists in Pazardzhik and 25th MIR in Sofia, Atidje Veli – leader of the lists in Lovech and Ruse, Ayten Sabri – candidate for national representative from the list in Kardzhali and Lovech, Nikolay Zlatarski – leader of the list in Kyustendil, Nedyalko Ruskov – candidate for national representative from the 23rd MIR in Sofia.
Iskra Mihailova presented the vision of “DPS – A New Beginning” for managing the country, stressing that the education sector occupies an important place in each of the priorities. She pointed out that education is present everywhere as a red thread and gave an example that the quality of life of people depends on it to a great extent.
Prof. Milena Temelkova – chairperson of the Council of Rectors and rector of the Higher School of Telecommunications and Posts, thanked for the open dialogue and stated that there is an urgent need for such dialogue between them and the politicians. According to university representatives, more frequent and regular meetings would contribute to improving the quality of education and improving the legislative framework. A symbiosis between legislative and executive power is needed, and it is currently lacking.
The participants in the meeting thanked for the commitment undertaken by the chairman of “DPS – Novo Nachalo” Delyan Peevski to provide the necessary funds for the higher education institutions in May of this year.
