“Botev” (Pd) continues its winning streak in the First League, after the “canaries” achieved their fourth consecutive success in the championship and ninth in total since the beginning of the season. The players of Dusan Kerkez won by the minimum 1:0 over the composition of “Black Sea” as hosts in a meeting of the 13th round of the championship. The only goal in the match was scored by Vinny Tribule already in the fifth minute of the match. In the 35th, the “sailors” hit the crossbar through Rosen Stefanov, BTA reported.
Thus, the “yellow and black” collected an asset of 28 points and temporarily tied for second place in the standings with the “Levski” team, which later today welcomes “Beroe”. “Black Sea” remains in fifth position with 22 points.
The match started well for the Canaries, who opened the scoring in the fifth minute. After a cross from a corner by Konstantinos Baloyianis, Antoine Conte deflected at the first post and from Daniel Dimov’s head the ball went to the goal of Plamen Iliev, who initially managed to save, but in the added time Vini Tribule converted from close range for 1:0.
The goal was followed by equal minutes in which “Black Sea” tried to respond, but it was difficult to get clear situations in front of Hans Christian Bernat.
However, in the 35th minute, the guests from Varna were very close to equalizing. The “Sailors” executed a short corner, after which Vasil Panayotov crossed to the goalkeeper’s box. There, Weslen Junior was left uncovered and headed towards Rosen Stefanov, who, however, hit the post from a few meters away.
Four minutes later, Martin Milushev found himself in a shooting position about 20 meters from Botev’s goal and shot dangerously, but Bernat was in place to save. Thus, the break came with a goal advance for the “yellow-blacks”.
Seven minutes after the resumption of play in the second half, the home team could score again after a static situation. Baloyianis crossed precisely from a direct free kick to Atanas Chernev, who outpaced the defenders of “Black Sea” and shot with his right foot, but off target.
In the 61st minute, Botev’s captain Ivelin Popov tried a strong shot from distance, which, however, went wide of the goal.
Ten minutes later, Baloyianis was brought down in the Black Sea penalty area and tried to finish with his left foot, but his shot was too inaccurate.
In the 74th minute, the “sailors” missed a great chance to equalize. Asen Donchev led Claudiu Kesheru well with a pass behind the back of Atanas Chernev, but the ball bounced on a bump in the field and surprised the visitors’ striker, who was unable to make a strong shot.
Until the end of the game, the visitors pressed their opponent in search of a goal, but the “Canaries” were solid enough in defense to maintain their advance, and in turn missed several good opportunities to realize quick counterattacks.
In the added time of the match, however, Ilian Iliev’s players got a good chance when they crossed in the penalty area to the uncovered Andrejas Kalkan, who, however, shot inaccurately from a small angle.
It was the ninth win for Botev (South) this season, with eight of them coming with a 1:0 result.
