The construction of the Ganja City Stadium continues at a rapid pace.
As Day.Az reports with reference to Sportinfo.az,the initial stage of construction of the stands has been completed,and a three-shift operating mode is used.
On April 9,President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev laid the foundation of the new Ganja City Stadium.
The stadium, built between 1959 and 1963 and opened in 1964, has remained operational in recent years due in part to the deteriorating condition of the spectator stands, which have become unusable.
In accordance with the Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated October 6, 2023, one million manat was allocated from the reserve fund of the head of state for the design and implementation of work on the reconstruction of the stadium. The design of the stadium has already been completed.
as part of the reconstruction, the stadium’s territory will be expanded to 10 hectares. The new stadium, which will be built according to UEFA fourth category standards, will accommodate 15 thousand 464 spectators.
The stadium has places for VVIP, VIP, SKY-box, media representatives and spectators with disabilities, and also locker rooms for football players, conference rooms, medical and referee rooms, rooms for technical staff and other necessary facilities.
In addition, according to the project, ticket sales points, various catering facilities, parking and checkpoints will be organized inside the stadium.
The stadium will be equipped with modern lighting, sound, TV broadcasting, Internet, security systems, as well as an entry and exit control system that meets UEFA requirements. It is indeed expected that the commissioning of the stadium will create all conditions for hosting both local and international competitions.
The arena is expected to be completed by 2025.The new stadium is planned to host the opening of the CIS Games, which will be held this year in Ganja.
