Dubai: Applying for visa through mobile application using Face ID is coming in Dubai. The authorities gave a hint in this regard at the ongoing Jitix exhibition in Dubai. The system is currently being used at Dubai Airports.
The authorities aim to provide the full range of services provided by the Dubai Immigration Department or GDRFA using facial biometric recognition technology. Once the project is completed, visa applications can be made using Face ID on GDRFA’s mobile application. There will be an opportunity to complete visa and entry permit procedures from home.
The convenience of this technology is that there is no need to submit passport or Emirates ID as proof of identification. Facial recognition system is currently being used in smart gates at Dubai Airport. This is a system that completes the immigration process without even having a passport. The authorities have not clarified that this facility will be available from GDRFA mobile app.
