The drama unfolded on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday, when an argument broke out between the pastor, identified as Elias N., and his wife, a respected teacher at the University of Bamenda. According to testimonies collected from neighbors, the screams alerted the neighborhood shortly before midnight.
According to initial findings by the police, the pastor poured acid on his wife, inflicting serious burns on her, before ingesting the corrosive product himself. Emergency services, arriving quickly on the scene, could only note the man’s death. His wife, in critical condition, was immediately transported to Bamenda central hospital.
