In an effort to diversify the energy matrix and guarantee a sustainable supply, the General Director of the General Directorate of Energy, Hydrocarbons and Mines, Daniel Álvarez, has highlighted the transcendental importance of the Nuclear Energy Law. In his recent statements, he emphasized that “safety is paramount in all activities, facilities and practices established in the Law,” highlighting the government’s commitment to the well-being of citizens and compliance with international standards.
The government predicts that, by 2040, nuclear energy could represent up to 40% of the national energy matrix. This transformation not only has the potential to reduce dependence on traditional energy sources, but will also open the door to significant investments in the sector. “The more energy we have, the more investment we can count on,” said Álvarez, reaffirming the vision of a more robust and sustainable energy future.
To support this growth, the DGEHM is committed to preparing its human talent, with the goal of training 400 professionals in the next seven years. This not only ensures a pool of experts in the field, but also strengthens the local industry, generating employment and opportunities.
In addition, the DGEHMSV will implement an inspection and control program for activities related to the Nuclear Energy Law, ensuring that all established guidelines are met. “The role of inspectors focuses on carrying out scheduled and immediate inspections on site, to continuously guarantee compliance with the law,” added the director.
With this firm commitment to nuclear energy, the government reaffirms its commitment to a safer, more sustainable and prosperous energy future for all citizens. Investment in training and energy infrastructure is presented as a viable solution to face the challenges of the present and guarantee the well-being of future generations.
