IA – Al-Najaf Al-Ashraf – Haider Farman
The Governor of Najaf Al-Ashraf, Youssef Kannawi, announced today, Sunday, the existence of a plan to distribute plots of land to vulnerable groups or include them in housing units, while addressing the file of lagging projects.

Knawi told the (INA): “When we assumed responsibility in the governorate, we found that the number of projects for Najaf in the 2023 budget and sent to the Ministry of Planning amounted to 179 projects, and only 33 of them were implemented. Therefore, since we assumed responsibility, we have been working to complete the procedures for completing the suspended projects.” .
He added, “There are now only 6 projects remaining, and we promise that they will see the light after the approval of the Ministry of Planning,” noting that “we have noticed that there is a great weakness in the follow-up of the projects, and they need careful follow-up by us and all concerned departments.”
Regarding support for vulnerable groups, Knawi said, “We are working in close coordination with the Minister of Labor and have discussed with him the possibility of including the largest possible number of these groups with the privileges granted by the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs,” indicating that “we have a plan to distribute plots of land to those disadvantaged groups or include them in housing units.” But the most important thing is to harness the investment plan to improve the living conditions of this group, including providing decent job opportunities for them, and we will also work to establish low-cost residential complexes.”
