Ready for the witch dance? Tonight they should start on their brooms in the direction of Blocksberg in the Harz Mountains. Haunted nights are celebrated with fire and dancing.

But the story isn’t funny at all. Because fire and witches – that smells like burning witches. In the horrifying witch hunts of the Middle Ages, anyone could frame a woman. It just meant: She is in league with the devil!

It was often about wise women. They were midwives or had knowledge of medicine and herbalism. Once reported, they were often tortured into confessing. Then they were burned to the roar of the people.

Basically, witch hunts still exist today. A woman like Ricarda Lang, head of the Greens, is massively attacked and receives death threats.

Because they and their appearance don’t suit others. Or Dunja Hayali. The journalist is spat on and insulted because her opinion provokes.

It has been proven that women are attacked more massively on social networks than men.

According to Plan International’s World Girl Report, 70 percent of girls and young women in Germany have already experienced threats, insults and discrimination online.

This is a new kind of witch hunt. Everyone has to stand up against this, women and men alike!

Incidentally, the custom of the coming night comes from the Germans. They wanted to symbolically burn the winter. With the Christianization of the holy Walburga was associated with it.

She was a learned woman, abbess of a nunnery. On a May Day she was canonized. This is how Walpurgis Night came about.

So let’s celebrate smart women tonight. Then “witch” can become an honorary title.

As the Bible says, “Before there is glory there must be humbleness” (Proverbs 18:12).
