A snatcher and a scammer captured in Santiago de Cuba

by times news cr

In Santiago de Cuba, two recent events, related to unstoppable crime on the island, shook the community.

Both cases were reported on social networks by journalist Yosmany Mayeta Labrada, publications that he accompanied with images of what happened.

First, an alleged snatcher was arrested by local residents. Although the details of their actions are not completely clear, the people of Santiago themselves took it upon themselves to take justice into their own hands.

“The young man was lynched by the Santiagueros and tied to a post, until the police arrived and took him into custody, with some injuries to his mouth and part of his body,” the journalist specified.

On the other hand, in a central area of Santiago, specifically on Reloj Street, between San Francisco and San Gerónimo, a second individual was captured, this time an alleged fraudster.

The communicator stated that he had no information about his identity or the nature of the scam that led to his arrest.

“An alleged fraudster was captured by the people and handed over to the police on Reloj Street, between San Francisco and San Gerónimo, in the heart of Santiago de Cuba. We do not know the man’s identity and the reasons for the alleged scam,” were his words.

This type of situation generates a climate of mistrust, and citizens feel motivated to act in the absence of an immediate response from the authorities.

Unfortunately, although it is true that crime reigns throughout the country, Santiago de Cuba is one of the provinces most affected by this problem; a problem that the police, as always, are not in the least interested in, since their only mission is to repress innocent people.

In fact, despite the citizens’ efforts to capture the criminals themselves, they end up on the streets shortly after being taken into police custody.
