Turkish police detained 147 people on suspicion of links to the terrorist group “Islamic State” (Daesh). This was announced by the Minister of Internal Affairs, Ali Yerlikaya, on his profile on the Ex social network, BTA reported.

According to him, today, simultaneous actions were carried out in 30 districts of the country, including in Antalya, Istanbul and Bursa. Many documents and digital media related to the activities of the jihadist group were seized.

The suspects were found to have carried out activities at a responsible level within the structure of Daesh, participated in armed actions in conflict zones and provided funding for the terrorist organization.

Yerlikaya also reported that from April 1 last year to March 25 this year, 1,329 operations against the Islamic State were conducted in Turkey, during which 2,919 suspects were detained, of which 692 were placed under permanent arrest.

Islamic State has claimed responsibility for last week’s deadly attack on the Crocus City concert hall outside Moscow, which killed 137 people.

In 2013, Turkey was one of the first countries to include the Islamic State in its list of terrorist organizations. Since then, the country has been repeatedly targeted by the group, with at least ten suicide attacks, seven bomb attacks and four armed attacks, killing at least 300 people and injuring hundreds more.
