He was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai on Monday after a sudden drop in blood pressure and was in critical condition in the ICU. His mortal remains were kept at the National Center for the Performing Arts (NCPA) lawn in Nariman Point, where a large number of people, including actor Aamir Khan and his ex-wife Kiran Rao, gathered to pay their last respects, just days before his demise. Earlier, Ratan Tata had posted on social media about concerns regarding his health. In a message posted on Monday, October 7, he urged people not to speculate about his hospitalization, adding that he was being examined for age-related conditions.

Aamir Khan paid tribute

In a video shared by ANI, Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao were seen joining hands among the mourners to express their condolences. Both were looking very emotional. Aamir bowed and paid respect to Ratan Tata. The Tata family confirmed Ratan Tata’s demise through an announcement on the Tata Group’s X handle, expressing gratitude for the love and respect of all who praised him. “Although he is no longer with us in person, his legacy of humility, generosity and purpose will continue to inspire future generations,” the statement said.

Parents divorce at age 10

Ratan Tata was adopted by his grandparents at the age of 10 after his parents divorced. He earned a bachelor’s degree in architecture from Cornell University College of Architecture. He first joined the business in 1961, where he worked on the shop floor of Tata Steel.
