About 70 percent of the country’s children are being discriminated against, according to the international children’s organization Kochi Kantha Asar, which is agitating for children’s rights.
The speaker gave this information while detailing various programs during the first week of October on the occasion of ‘World Children’s Day and World Children’s Week 2024’.
In a press release of the organization on Sunday, it has been informed that this organization, which has been making significant contributions to the development of children’s education, health, culture and environment, organized an exceptional press conference to present the objectives and details of various programs to various media workers during the last week. The press conference was organized with children and teenagers at Biswa Sahitya Kendra in Banglamator of the capital on Saturday (October 5).
At this time, several children from different regions of the country asked journalists and various media workers as well as negotiators and organizers various questions on building a new future Bangladesh.
The press conference was held under the chairmanship of prominent children’s organizer Hemayet Hossain, the founder of the organization. He said that many children in rural areas of the country are still deprived of education. At an age when they need to go to school for education, many have to take on important family responsibilities. In addition to the government, he urged people from all walks of life to come forward. He demanded that all the children of the country should be given their rights without discrimination.
Referring to the negligence and discrimination of various hospital authorities, he said street children are still not receiving treatment in government hospitals. As a result, they are being discriminated against in terms of moral rights like medical treatment.

Explaining the work of the organization last week, he said, on Thursday, October 3, international children’s organization ‘Kochi Kanther Asar’, chief advisor to the interim government, urged for non-discriminatory child rights. Mohammad Yunus, United Nations Regional Office, UNICEF and the US Embassy presented separate memoranda. Before handing over the memorandum, a group of child representatives presented their demands along with the UNICEF rally and road march in the morning on behalf of the organization.
A special memorandum was then presented on behalf of the children at the office of the Chief Adviser at 11 am. The memorandum was then presented to the United Nations and the US Embassy after lunch. Earlier that day, a minute’s silence was observed for the children killed and injured in the anti-discrimination movement.
A large number of students from various Bengali medium schools, English medium schools, autistic schools and madrasas were present during the presentation of the memorandum. Notable schools among these are – Yusep-Ismail School, Autism Welfare Foundation, Mastul School, Karail Slum Pathshishu School, Academia, Manipur School (tribal students), Al Amin Hifzul Quran Madrasah and Orphanage and Maple Leaf School among others.
