The fourth annual Academy Museum Gala, honoring renowned figures including Quentin Tarantino, Paul Mescal, and Rita Moreno, raised $11 million on Saturday night.
The evening’s program featured John Travolta presenting the Luminary Award to Tarantino, who announced his donation of the first handwritten draft of the script for “Pulp Fiction” to the museum. The gala concluded with Ariana Grande introducing her “Wicked” co-star Cynthia Erivo, who delivered a captivating four-song set that included “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” from “The Wizard of Oz.”
Earlier in the evening, on the red carpet, Grande shared her enthusiasm about collaborating with Erivo in the future. “I love being in the studio with her, even just as like a fly on the wall, hearing what she’s working on and having her there when I’m working,” she said. “I think we are stuck with each other, professionally and personally for the rest of our lives.”
The gala was presented by Rolex, featuring a menu crafted by chef Curtis Stone with wine from Clarendelle & Domaine Clarence Dillon and specialty cocktails by Tequila Don Julio.
