Angloamerican confirmed the presentation of a complaint for fraud against the ProCultura Foundation, accusing irregularities in the surrender of $290 million for a series of projects awarded to the organization led by Alberto Larraín.

In a public statement, the mining holding company stated that “given the evidence collected in our internal investigation process, It was established that there were irregularities in accountability and traceability in the latest projects delivered to the Procultura Foundation.those that correspond are investigated by the Public Ministry.”

Angloamerican detailed that the agreements with Procultura, in force since 2017, were intended to “benefit communities in the areas where the company has operations, with a focus on the areas of livelihood (tourism and heritage), mountain plan, health and well-being ”.

Along these lines, he specified that the donations to the Foundation had as their sole purpose the “specific projects that the donee had to execute. Anglo American never gave freedom to the Foundation regarding the destination of the donated funds.”
