Acting President Choi Sang-mok, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Strategy and Finance, said on the 2nd, “I ask public officials to do their best to ensure the early stability of national affairs.”
Acting President Choi said this at the government opening ceremony held at the Seoul Government Complex on this day, saying, “The Republic of Korea is in an unprecedented and serious situation.”
He emphasized, “We must make every possible effort to ensure that the security of the country and the foundation of the people’s lives are not shaken, including solid diplomacy, security, an unwavering economy, ensuring the safety of the people, and harmony and integration.”
“First and foremost, we must establish a solid security posture,” he said. “Currently, our military maintains an iron-clad security posture, and we are strengthening solidarity with other friendly countries while developing security cooperation between Korea, the United States, and Japan based on the ROK-U.S. alliance.” He said.
He also said, “In preparation for the inauguration of the new Trump administration in the United States, we will quickly respond to pending issues in various fields such as diplomacy, security, and trade, while closely communicating and discussing with major countries such as the United States,” and added, “We must also make every effort to manage the economy stably.”
Acting President Choi said, “The government is making every effort to stabilize the market to prevent the volatility of the financial and foreign exchange market from expanding,” adding, “We will continue to communicate closely with overseas credit rating agencies and overseas investors, and manage external credit ratings as a top priority. “I hope that collaboration between ministries and agencies will be strengthened to prevent market volatility from expanding,” he said.
He also said, “We must do our best to quickly restore the people’s economy,” and “We must strive to increase the public’s perception of the policy through rapid budget execution and focus our policy capabilities on stable management of prices and support for the management of small business owners and the self-employed to restore domestic demand.” “I will keep the spark alive,” he said.
In addition, he emphasized, “We will do our best to protect the safety of the people,” and added, “I hope you will do your best to crack down on various crimes that threaten the daily lives of the people and ensure public security.”
Acting President Choi said, “National harmony and integration are tasks that cannot be neglected,” and added, “We must strive to resolve social conflict factors and unite the will of the people by strengthening communication with all walks of life in our society. In order to stabilize national affairs and resolve pending issues, unity and cooperation among leadership, including the National Assembly, the ruling and opposition parties, and the political circles, are urgently needed. “The government will also listen to diverse opinions and come up with realistic solutions.”
At the same time, he said, “The more difficult the country is, the more important the role of public officials is,” and “I earnestly ask that each and every public official dedicate themselves to the country and the people with a sense of duty that they are at the center of national affairs.”
