The actress shared a post on social media yesterday about her ordeal after being attacked. It was shared by all the colleagues who had established themselves with the actress from the beginning. Actors Mammootty and Mohanlal shared the post of the actress after the topic was discussed further. Following this, the WCC has come out with a response.

From the WCC Facebook post:

The fact that we are able to hold our head high even when those around us are bowing down in fear is absolutely a sign of our self-esteem. The confidence and courage shown by our sister, the survivor, during these five years of going through extraordinary and extreme trauma is absolutely admirable and exemplary.

The extensive support received for our sister’s words yesterday from Malayalam cinema, foreign language cinema and other fields is commendable. Not to mention the frustration of not getting the support we needed in the way of survival, at the right time.

At this juncture, we are compelled to ask how this support and respect that is now being given should be interpreted. Are Malayalam filmmakers ready to apply POSH guidelines in their workplaces instead of sharing posts on social media? Are organizations and communities doing anything to ensure equal opportunities for women in the workplace and ensure equality!

Are our male colleagues, using their current decisive influence and power, preparing for permanent and lasting alliances to ensure that women have a fair, healthy and safe working environment and that they are not marginalized! This is the support we need. We deserve this kind of consideration.

During this time, the love and gratitude for each and every one of the survivors and those who stood by the WCC. We do not intend to go backwards in our efforts to bring about progressive and systematic changes in the field of Malayalam cinema. The support of each and every one of you on this journey is invaluable.

I sincerely hope and hope that more people will be able to participate in our struggle for a non-partisan, equitable and secure working environment.
