Bengaluru-based EV start-up Ather Energy has recently launched the 450X Gen 3 electric scooter in India, with interesting updates including longer range, bigger battery and more functional updates than the previous model.
Ather Energy has also updated the 450 Plus scooter. Aether Energy has launched the Gen 3 450X and 450 Plus electric scooters at Rs 1.39 lakh and Rs 1.17 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) respectively. The 450X scooter is Rs 1,000 more than before in Delhi, and the average price of the scooter across India has increased by Rs 5,000. But price hike varies from city to city.
The 450X Gen 3 scooter as the name suggests is the company’s flagship battery powered third generation model. The new scooter has been introduced with improved features and other major improvements. With the latest updates the Ather 450X Gen 3 scooter has updated its competition with other high speed scooters like TVS iQube 2022 and Ola S1 Pro. The Gen 3 Ather 450X and 450 Plus scooters get a larger 3.7kWh lithium-ion battery pack as opposed to the old 2.9kWh unit. The battery is 25% larger than that of the previous generation scooter, giving it an ARAI-certified range of 146 km and a true range of 105 km.

The updated 450X scooter is claimed to offer a range of 85 km in Ride Mode and 105 km in Eco Mode. Earlier the same scooter gave a mileage of 70 km in Ride Mode and 85 km in Eco Mode. The updated scooter 450 Plus, on the other hand, gets a range of 70 km (10 km more than before) in Ride Mode and 85 km (15 km more than before) in Eco Mode. Tarun Mehta, Co-Founder & CEO, Ather Energy said, “The Numbers 450X Gen 2, launched in 2020, excited the Indian EV market and set a new benchmark for its reliable performance.
Now with the introduction of the 450X Gen 3 we have doubled the performance parameters and taken it to the next level.” The 450X Gen 3 gets ‘Smart EcoTM Mode’ which allows riders to enjoy the ride in Ride mode while offering the range of Eco’mode. This updated version offers 5 ride modes namely Warp, Sport, Ride, SmartEco and Eco.
