A massive death of pigs was recorded in the Kotayk (Yelgovan – ed.) region of Armenia, farmers claim that the cause is African swine fever.

As Day.Az reports with reference to the Armenian media, they published a video showing dozens of dead pigs.

The villagers accuse the Ministry of Economy and the administration of the Prime Minister of Armenia of not responding to their signals.

In a conversation with the media, one of the farmers said that someone lost 600 heads, another – 400, and another person lost about 100.

“They came from the Food Safety Inspection Authority and recorded everything. They said that we have no right to sell dead livestock, they took samples to check whether it was African plague, but they did not confirm it. We say, give us the opportunity to take the tests abroad, They don’t allow us to document that it’s a plague,” the farmer said.

He notes that veterinarians are sure that this is precisely the plague, but the Inspectorate does not confirm this so as not to pay compensation of 75%.
