International women’s beauty pageant ‘Miss World’. The event was last held in Bangalore, India in 1996. 28 years have passed since then. But this beauty pageant is no longer held in India. After almost three decades, the 71st edition of this competition will be held in India tomorrow.

According to India Times, the grand finale of ‘Miss World 2024’ will begin on Saturday (March 9) at 7:30 pm at the Jio World Convention Center in Mumbai. Ten contestants from 10 countries of the world will fight in it. The grand finale will be hosted by Bollywood’s legendary producer Karan Johar. She will be seen on the stage of Miss World after almost 18 years. Karan Johar was the last jury member of Miss World in 2006.

According to Miss World.com, 10 contestants from around the world will participate in the grand finale of the 71st edition of Miss World. They are — Audrey Vanessa (Indonesia), Priyanka Rani Joshi (Nepal), Nursena Se (Turkey), Kristina Piskova (Czech Republic), Sofia Shamia (Ukraine).

The remaining five contestants are Lesego Kombo (Botswana), Halima Kopwe (Tanzania), Hanah Tumukonde (Uganda), Leticia Frota (Brazil), Ache Abrahams (Trinidad and Tobago).

India and Bangladesh are represented by Sini Shetty and Neela respectively in this event. But none of them got top ten place.

It is to be noted that in 1966, an Indian won the ‘Miss World’ title for the first time. And she is Reita Faria Poel. Then in 1994, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan won the title of Miss World. Then in 1997 Diana Hayden won this title.

Yukta was crowned Miss World in 1999. Priyanka Chopra Jonas won this title in the year 2000. After a long break Manushi Chillar won this title in 2017.
