After 30 years: the stars of “Back to the Future” reunited for an emotional and sad reunion

A lot of things are happening at New York Comic-Con right now and we’re pretty sorry we’re not there, but one of the most exciting things is probably the meeting between Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd from the beloved “Back to the Future” trilogy. This meeting is exciting not only because of our undying love for the mythological film, but for a sadder reason.

The actor Michael J. Fox, who has been dealing with Parkinson’s disease for three decades after being diagnosed when he was only 29 years old (at the height of his career), came on stage and it seemed that his condition had deteriorated significantly.

During the panel you can see him making a great effort to walk towards the designated seating area, which is both exciting and heartbreaking at the same time. Fox, although trying to remain optimistic, detailed the symptoms he has to deal with as a result of the disease: motor problems, involuntary tremors and balance disorders, in addition to the fact that the symptoms only worsen with age.

The two met to share memories of their twenty years of close friendship and their joint work on one of the most popular and successful films of all time, “Back to the Future”, where they played the characters of Marty McFly and Emmett “Doc” Brown – on whom the successful animated series “Rick and Morty” is also based “.

“I didn’t know Michael, but I had definitely heard of him,” Lloyd says of Fox. “There was chemistry between us right from the moment we met,” he says of the moment they first met on the film set. On Twitter, fans reacted with excitement to the meeting when they wrote: “I’m not crying, you’re crying”, while others wrote that “it was a beautiful moment” to see the duo together again.

Over the years, Fox won five Emmy Awards, four Golden Globe Awards and two Screen Actors Guild Awards, but was never nominated for an Oscar. Among his other roles, we can mention the movie “Young Wolf”, “Stewart Little”, in which he contributed his voice to the cute mouse, and the character Lewis Canning in the series “The Good Wife”, “Good for Carbfox”, “Family Ties”, and “Spin City”.

Fox was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 1991, and founded an association to research the disease in 2000, for which he also received a special award of honor from the American Film Academy – this for his contribution to the world of entertainment and his efforts to find a cure for the disease from which he suffers.
