Barcelona is about to build a statue of the legend outside the Camp Nou

Rumors of Argentina superstar Lionel Messi’s move back to Barcelona are rife on social media as his contract with Paris Saint-Germain expires. Barca allowed Messi to leave the club when he could not renew his contract due to financial commitments.

The player who came to PSG through a free transfer in 2021 has been performing well for the club. On the one hand, PSG is ready to renew the contract with Messi, while on the other hand, Barca has opened the doors to the club for the player.

But Barca is planning to build a statue of the legend who played for Barca for two decades since his childhood and played a major role in the growth of the club through his tactics and hard work. A statue of Lionel Messi will be built in front of the Camp Nou stadium. Barcelona president Joan Laporta announced the decision to the fans.

Since making his debut for the Blaugrana in 2004, Messi has scored 672 goals in 778 appearances to become the club’s all-time top scorer. He won 35 trophies for the club, including 10 La Liga titles and four UEFA Champions League wins. Barca decided to build a statue as a tribute to the player for contributing such an achievement. Laporta released the information while speaking at Barcelona’s General Assembly.

Messi contributed 16 goals for PSG in 13 matches this season. Although clubs are waiting for the player on both sides, Messi has said that he is not ready to announce his decision on which club he will sign for until the end of the Qatar World Cup.
