Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen has said that there is no room for compromise on the issue of Taiwan’s sovereignty.

Taiwan has been functioning as an independent country since the Chinese Civil War. However, China considers the island as a part of their country.

Chinese President Xi Jinping has been saying that he can annex Taiwan anytime. As well as recognizing Taiwan as a separate country, China has condemned any visit by any leader to the island.

It is noteworthy that China has reaffirmed that it will not hesitate to launch a war on the island if necessary to achieve its goal of annexing Taiwan.

Today (Oct. 10) is National Day in Taiwan. It is also known as ‘Double Tenth Day’, ‘Double Ten Day’. On National Day, Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen said:

The consensus of the people of Taiwan is to protect our country’s sovereignty, freedom and equal life. There is no room for compromise in this matter. I spoke to the Chinese authorities that it is not right to resolve this issue through war. Relations with China will only continue if the sovereign independence of the Taiwanese people is respected.
