Presidential Council President Mohamed Al-Manfi said that the continuation of unilateral decisions without addressing them as a package through the parties’ dialogue led by the UN mission encourages institutions to continue their unilateral approach.
Al-Manfi, through a tweet on the X website on Wednesday, called on the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, to expedite the appointment of a permanent envoy to Libya, accompanied by the Security Council extending the mission’s work for a period sufficient to complete the elections.
Today, the United States of America welcomed the appointment of a new board of directors for the Central Bank of Libya, noting that it is a decisive step towards strengthening the bank’s governance and credibility in the eyes of the international financial community.
The US Embassy in Libya issued a statement today, stressing the need not to politicize the basic technocratic institutions in Libya or subject them to pressure.
Yesterday, in a statement, the UN mission also welcomed the appointment of a new board of directors for the Central Bank of Libya, following the House of Representatives’ announcement of the adoption of the list of board members referred to it by the bank.
It is worth noting that the Presidential Council reserved reservations on the decision of the Presidency of Parliament to approve a new board of directors for the Central Bank.
Presidential Council advisor Ziad Daghim said that the decision of the Presidency of the House of Representatives violates the law due to lack of jurisdiction in light of the conflict with the Presidential Council. Because there is no law to determine senior employees, according to him.
Daghim pointed out that the decision violated the letter nominating the interim governor, Naji Issa, with regard to “Amer Karkar Al-Ferjani,” as well as the failure to specify the Undersecretary General of the Ministry of Finance who is responsible for the consistency of fiscal policy with the country’s monetary policy, according to what he said.
Daghim expected a judicial appeal, or the issuance of a new presidential decision. To correct what he called the “serious violations” that Parliament once again committed, as he put it.
