Carried out as part of the Master Plan for the integrated development of water resources and the National Drinking Water Supply and Irrigation Program 2020-2027, this new dam, whose capacity is estimated at 204 million m3, will require an investment total of 2.7 billion DH.
In a statement to MAP, Mr. Baraka stressed that this project is of paramount importance in view of the problem of shortage of water resources from which the Souss-Massa region suffers, noting that this dam and the water desalination station sea will contribute to supplying the city of Agadir with drinking water, as well as to the irrigation of neighboring agricultural land.
This infrastructure will also help combat flooding, strengthen the water table, and supply drinking water to a certain number of douars, schools and mosques, he added.
On this occasion, the minister who was accompanied in particular by the Wali of the Souss-Massa region, Governor of the Prefecture of Agadir-Ida Outanane, Ahmed Hajji, was informed of the progress of this new hydraulic installation a total height of 75 meters and a length of 460 meters.
