Speaking on the occasion of the High Level Forum on Artificial Intelligence, Ms. Cutrona stressed that this event, which is in addition too the “Gitex Africa Morocco” exhibition, held last week in Marrakech, testifies to the place of Morocco as a leader on its continent, notably in terms of accelerating innovations and the latest developments in AI.
In this regard, she highlighted the adoption by the UN General Assembly of the first UN resolution on AI, initially co-sponsored by Morocco and the United States, which thus reflects the solidity of the multidimensional strategic and historical partnership between Rabat and Washington, reiterating the determination of the United States to work together with the Kingdom in this area.
Moreover, Ms. Cutrona highlighted that AI has enormous potential to advance enduring advancement and the Sustainable Development Goals, noting the need to ensure that the benefits of AI reach all countries, especially for developing countries.
She said she was convinced that the transformative potential of AI will revolutionize our world, emphasizing the importance of ensuring its secure use, with a view to developing responsible AI that respects human rights.
“We must work together to combat current challenges and ensure that no one is left out of this technological revolution, to ensure a more inclusive future,” concluded the American diplomat.
Placed under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the high-level Forum is initiated by the mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) through its International Artificial Intelligence Center of Morocco “AI movement”, in partnership with the Unesco, the participation of representatives from more than 30 countries, including around fifteen African countries, with the aim of laying the foundations for an African strategy dedicated to AI.
