Karur, a district in Tamil Nadu, witnessed a protest against the DMK government led by Vijayabaskar, the former transport minister and AIADMK secretary of the district. The demonstration was organized by the AIADMK party, with more than 500 volunteers and party administrators participating in the event.
During the protest, people raised their voices against the DMK government’s inability to control the skyrocketing prices of essential food items, particularly vegetables, and the rampant corruption prevailing in all sectors. The protesters condemned the government for its failure to address these pressing issues that directly impacted the livelihoods of the common people.
Former transport minister and Karur district AIADMK secretary, M.R. Vijayabaskar, took the opportunity to criticize the DMK government, highlighting a peculiar incident that unfolded under their regime. He stated that during the so-called Dravida model regime, only one government bus driver was responsible for stopping a broken-down bus at the RTO office. This incident sheds light on the administration’s lack of concern towards the efficient functioning of public transport systems.
Vijayabaskar further added that when Senthil Balaji, a prominent political figure, was arrested after raids, his son Udhayanidhi and even the chief minister and other ministers rushed to visit him. However, when a raid took place at the Ponmudi house, there was not a single soul present to offer support or show solidarity.
Surprisingly, the government responded to the incident by dismissing the government bus driver from his position, claiming that he had taken a bus in good condition to the RTO office and stopped it. This action raises questions about the government’s priorities and the fairness of its decision-making processes.
As the protest unfolded, the public expressed their dissatisfaction and disappointment with the current state of affairs under the DMK government. The AIADMK party, under the leadership of Vijayabaskar, intends to continue highlighting these issues and demanding accountability from the ruling party.
