The head of the National Unity Government, Abdul Hamid Al-Dabaiba, announced the opening of the Al-Barari Club stadiums in the municipality of Al-Makhili, and the Al-Manar Club stadiums in the municipality of Sousse, after maintaining and developing them, after they were damaged by the floods and torrents that swept the Jebel Akhdar regions last year.
This announcement came during a ceremony honoring Libyan heroes who won medals in the Olympic and Paralympic competitions during the years 2023 and 2024, which was held today, Monday, in the Al-Nasr Forest Hall Complex in the capital, Tripoli.
During his speech at the celebration, Al-Dabaiba said, “Honoring 140 athletes representing 19 sports federations and sports, who won gold, silver, and bronze medals in official tournaments, is a source of pride and honor for all Libyans, and evidence that the will to succeed is capable of overcoming all challenges.”
Al-Dabaiba praised “the efforts of the Ministry of Sports, which have achieved tangible achievements on the ground, noting the preparation and maintenance of 135 stadiums in various parts of Libya, and the establishment and maintenance of 17 sports halls and 10 sports cities, in addition to 69 five-a-side stadiums, and various sports facilities that include tracks and swimming pools.”
“The celebration was held in the presence of the Minister of Sports, Abdel Shafie Al-Juwaifi, the President of the Libyan Olympic Committee, Jamal Al-Zarrouk, the heads of the country’s sports federations, and a number of prominent sports figures.”
