The head of the National Unity Government, Abdel Hamid Dabaiba, affirmed Libya’s concern for the interests of the brothers in the Sahel-Saharan countries, its work to resolve the crises in Niger and Sudan, and its moral commitment to restore stability to it.

In his speech during the opening session of the fourth meeting of youth and sports ministers at the gathering held in Tripoli, Al-Dabaiba pointed out that the internal challenges and threats surrounding Libyan national security did not prevent Libya from performing its duty towards its brothers, and he said:

“In the Sudan crisis, we sought to mediate an end to the fighting between brothers, to put an end to the humanitarian crisis, and to provide relief to the displaced and those trapped in combat zones.”

Al-Dabaiba added, “I am reminded of the seriousness of the conditions that Sudan is experiencing and its near and far repercussions on the region as a whole,” considering that all of this “pushes us all to put pressure to stop the fighting and stop wasting capabilities.”

Al-Dabaiba expressed Libya’s “sincere” desire to work hard by coming together to play its regional and international role and work to address the problems that the Sahel and Sahara region suffers from, including migration, the spread of poverty, terrorism, climate change, and drought.

Al-Dabaiba called for uniting efforts to establish security in the region and achieve prosperity for our peoples, stressing that internal challenges should not prevent us from providing all the necessary support to this gathering by all means and capabilities to preserve it.

Al-Dabaiba urged all countries to work hard to achieve the goals of the gathering to achieve security, peace and stability and to confront the problems and challenges that are plaguing his countries, noting that this

“It can only come with concerted efforts, capabilities, and the efforts of young people in particular, who are responsible for leading people to stability and development.” He also urged governments to “commit to making active contributions and participation at the highest levels in meetings and conferences.”

Al-Dabaiba called on the participants to “support the right of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state and live in peace, and to stop the policies of genocide, collective punishment, and injustice practiced against them.”

The activities of the fourth meeting of Ministers of Youth and Sports of the Community of Sahel-Saharan Countries (S-S) kicked off this morning in the capital, Tripoli.
