Prime Minister of the National Unity Government, Abdul Hamid Dabaiba, conducted an inspection visit to the Urban Planning Department with the aim of addressing the current urban conditions.
During the visit, “an expanded workshop was held that reviewed the urgent and tripartite plan prepared by the Urban Planning Authority, where the head of the authority, Ahmed Al-Mukhtar, reviewed the measures taken regarding the preparation of the development plan for the authority and the targeted timetable for the plan.”
The first axis of the workshop discussed “the short plan to address the current urban conditions and address random construction, review maps from 28 brochures, and prepare technical specifications for cities and population centers.” The project’s targeted implementation period is 18 months.
The second axis also discussed, “The urban strategy for developing the metropolis of Tripoli, where a visual presentation was presented about the current situation, random growth, and the reasons for the shortcomings in the national plan and land uses according to the current situation.”
According to our government platform, “the strategy reviewed the three dimensions on which it is based: national, regional, and local.”
Al-Dabaiba explained, “The state of Libya has not witnessed any planning project since 2004, and it will not delay in paying attention to urban planning and giving it priority in the development program.”
He stressed “the necessity of coordination with the Ministries of Higher Education and Scientific Research to create urban planning departments in engineering colleges, so that they can contribute to addressing the urban conditions that the country is experiencing, stressing the necessity of adopting technical training programs for the Authority’s employees to keep pace with the development plan that the Authority targets in its development project.”
Dabaiba was accompanied, on his tour, by the Ministers of Housing and Utilities, the Designated Planning and Local Government, the Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, the directors of agencies for the development and development of administrative centres, the implementation of housing and facilities projects, the implementation of transportation projects, and the Director General of the National Council for Economic and Social Development, in the presence of branch directors.
