The Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Iraq, Anil Bora Inan, confirmed today, Wednesday, that the Grand Al-Faw Port project and the development road will bring great growth and economic gains to Iraq and the region.

Annan told the (INA): “We visited the Grand Al-Faw Port Project as part of our visit to Basra Governorate, which is considered the artery and the heart of the Iraqi economy,” noting that “The Grand Al-Faw Port Project and the development road will achieve development and great economic gains for Iraq and the region.”
He added, “This visit with a large delegation from Ankara demonstrates the importance we attach to this project,” explaining that “his country will support this project, which is considered a major development project, and all other projects that give development and reconstruction to Iraq.”
He stressed that “the development method project is an Iraqi project, and through it Iraq seeks to reach all parts of the world.”
He pointed out that “there are preparatory works for this project that extends within Turkish territory,” noting that “after completing the work of determining the route and the work of the main connection point to the Turkish side, we will begin the actual work on Turkish territory.”
He stressed that “all these issues are being discussed at a high level between the two countries.”

Earlier today, the Ministry of Transport announced that a meeting was held in Basra for representatives of the countries that signed the quadripartite memorandum of understanding on the path to development, headed by Iraq and membership of Turkey, the Emirates, and Qatar, indicating that the economic feasibility study of the project would be discussed and the important paths to move forward with its implementation would be determined.
