Al-Khanjar calls for not holding any session to choose a speaker for the House of Representatives without authorization

Today, Friday, the head of the Sovereignty Party, Khamis Al-Khanjar, called for not holding any session to choose the Speaker of the House of Representatives without the authorization of the Sunni community.

The Sovereignty Party stated in a statement received by the (INA), that “based on the extensive discussions and communications with the brothers, leaders of the Sunni Arab political forces and blocs, which took place during the past days, the Sovereignty Party will send official invitations to the leaders of the Sunni forces, parties, and blocs, to hold an extraordinary meeting.” In the capital, Baghdad, during the next two days.
He added, “The meeting will discuss the internal Sunni situation, discuss the issue of the presidency of Parliament, and agree to support a consensual figure that represents the Sunni majority and meets the aspirations of the street,” calling on partners in the political process to “respect the choice of the Sunni majority and not hold any session to choose the Speaker of the House of Representatives except With the authorization of the Sunni communities.”
