Representative in the Presidential Council, Abdullah Al-Lafi, received the Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Acting Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, Stephanie Khoury.
The meeting discussed “developments in the current scene, and ways to support the political process in Libya. The meeting also discussed developments in the national reconciliation file, and emphasized the mission’s continued cooperation, working on the path of reconciliation and transitional justice, and overcoming any difficulties in holding the inclusive conference.”
Al-Lafi stressed, “the necessity of having a clear political path in the next stage, to end the stalemate in the political process, to pave the way for holding electoral elections,” noting “the importance of the step of appointing the Board of Directors of the Central Bank.”
In turn, Khoury provided a “briefing to the representative, about her most prominent meetings and meetings, since her last briefing before the UN Security Council.”
The representative of the Secretary-General praised “the presidential support for the mission’s work over the past period, and appreciated the participation of Mr. Al-Lafi in the signing ceremony of the agreement between the House of Representatives and the Supreme Council of State regarding the appointment of the Governor of the Central Bank.”
