Expert: Housni El Ghazaoui, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Al Omrane Group
Sarah Hayes: Good morning, Mr. El Ghazaoui. Thank you for joining us today. The recent exhibition aimed at Moroccans living abroad seems to be a great initiative. Can you tell us a bit about the goals behind this event?
Housni El Ghazaoui: Good morning, Sarah, and thank you for having me. The exhibition we held in Amsterdam is crucial for our strategy to strengthen ties with Moroccans living abroad. Our main objective is to create opportunities for meaningful exchanges and address the needs and expectations of our diaspora. This is aligned with the High Royal Guidelines, which emphasize prioritizing the citizen, whether residing in Morocco or abroad.
Sarah Hayes: That makes a lot of sense. You mentioned the importance of responding to their needs. What specific initiatives did you highlight during the conference at the exhibition?
Housni El Ghazaoui: During the conference, we discussed several significant reforms in Morocco’s housing sector. As part of our national policy, we are focused on responding to the growing housing needs and improving living conditions. One of the key initiatives is our new direct housing assistance program, which has been established under the High Royal Instructions. This program is designed to facilitate access to housing for citizens, both in Morocco and abroad.
Sarah Hayes: The direct housing assistance program sounds promising. How do you believe this will affect Moroccans living outside the country?
Housni El Ghazaoui: This program offers vital support to Moroccans living abroad, allowing them to invest in their homeland and secure housing. It not only fosters a sense of belonging but also strengthens their connection to Morocco. Additionally, the new digital platform we launched will enable them to navigate the housing acquisition process more easily, ensuring they have seamless access to the information and resources they need.
Sarah Hayes: That’s a noteworthy step toward digital inclusion. Could you elaborate on how the new digital platform will work for those living outside of Morocco?
Housni El Ghazaoui: Certainly! The platform, accessible at www.alomrane.gov.ma, provides comprehensive assistance in the housing acquisition process. It offers valuable information, such as available properties, financing options, and guidelines tailored to both Moroccan residents and those abroad. Our goal is to make the experience as user-friendly as possible, removing barriers to ensure our citizens feel supported no matter where they are.
Sarah Hayes: It’s great to see such proactive measures. What impact do you hope these efforts will have on Morocco’s attractiveness for investment, particularly in the housing sector?
Housni El Ghazaoui: Our initiatives are intended to improve the overall attractiveness of Morocco as a destination for investment. By addressing housing needs and enhancing living conditions, we can create an environment conducive to both domestic and foreign investments. Investors look for stability and opportunities, and our commitment to modernizing the housing sector is a vital part of this strategy.
Sarah Hayes: Clearly, you have a comprehensive vision for the future. How do you foresee the relationship evolving between the government and Moroccans abroad in the years to come?
Housni El Ghazaoui: We aim to foster an enduring and collaborative relationship. By maintaining ongoing dialogue and actively engaging with our diaspora, we can ensure that our policies are responsive to their needs. Moreover, we envision creating more platforms for interaction and support, which will help deepen their connection to Morocco and encourage participation in national development.
Sarah Hayes: Thank you, Mr. El Ghazaoui, for sharing these insights. It appears that the Al Omrane Group, under your leadership, is making significant strides in strengthening ties with Moroccans abroad and enhancing the housing sector.
