The whole of Norway gathered in front of the TV to see Alan Rachins and the rest of “the lawyers” fight for Law and Order in L.A.

The actor was 82 years old and died of heart failure.
Alan Rachins, best known for his roles in the TV series “L.A. Law” and “Dharma & Greg”.
Rachins passed away in his sleep from heart failure at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, his wife, actress Joanna Frank, told The Hollywood Reporter.
He received both Emmy and Golden Globe nominations for the role in 1988. In Norwegian, the TV series was called Lov og rett i L.A., and was broadcast on NRK (1987–1992) and TV2 (1992–1996).

After “L.A. Law,” Rachins transitioned to a completely different type of role as Larry Finkelstein, the eccentric hippie father of Jenna Elfman’s character in the sitcom “Dharma & Greg“.
He appeared in all 199 episodes of the series which aired from 1997 to 2002.
Rachins had a long career that started on Broadway in 1967. He was also involved in the controversial musical revue “Oh! Calcutta!” in the late 60s, where actors performed nude.
In addition to his TV roles, Rachins appeared in films such as “Heart Condition,” “Showgirls,” and “Leave It to Beaver.”
Rachins is survived by his wife Joanna Frank, whom he was married to for 46 years, and their son Robert.
