Alan Rachins, Beloved Star of ‘L.A. Law’ and ‘Dharma & Greg’, Passes Away at 82

The whole of Norway gathered in front of the TV to see Alan Rachins and the rest of “the lawyers” ⁤fight ⁢for Law and Order in L.A.

The actor was​ 82 years ⁣old and died of heart failure.

Alan Rachins, best known for his roles in the ⁤TV series “L.A. Law”​ and “Dharma ‌& Greg”.

Rachins passed⁢ away in his sleep from heart failure at ‌Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, his wife, actress Joanna Frank, told The Hollywood Reporter.

He received both Emmy⁢ and Golden Globe nominations for the role in‍ 1988. In Norwegian, the TV series was called Lov og rett i L.A., and was broadcast on NRK (1987–1992) and TV2 (1992–1996).

After “L.A. Law,” Rachins transitioned to a completely different ‌type of⁤ role as Larry Finkelstein, the​ eccentric hippie father of Jenna Elfman’s character‌ in the sitcom “Dharma & Greg“.‍

He appeared in all 199 episodes of the series which aired from⁣ 1997 to 2002.

Rachins had ​a long career that started on Broadway ⁤in 1967. He was ‍also involved in the controversial musical revue “Oh! Calcutta!” in the late 60s, where actors ‌performed ⁤nude.

In addition to his TV roles, Rachins appeared in films such as “Heart Condition,” “Showgirls,”⁣ and‌ “Leave It to Beaver.”

Rachins is survived by his wife Joanna Frank, whom he was married to ‍for ​46 years, and their son Robert.
