Alassane Pléa extends to Borrussia Mönchengladbach

French Mönchengladbach striker Alassane Pléa, under contract until 2023, has extended his contract with Borussia for two seasons until 2025, and an option for an additional year, the club said on Friday on social networks.

Trained at Olympique Lyonnais, Pléa, 29, will start Saturday (3:30 p.m.) against Bochum in his fifth season in the Mönchengladbach jersey. He arrived in east-central Germany in the summer of 2018 after four seasons at Nice.

«The simple fact that he was our top scorer over the last four Bundesliga seasons (38 goals in total, editor’s note) shows the importance he has in our team.“, underlined the sporting director of the club, Roland Virkus.

In 144 matches with Mönchengladbach, Alassane Pléa scored 47 goals and delivered 30 assists, including a remarkable career in the Champions League during the 2020/21 season, with five goals in eight matches played.

Tenth in the Bundesliga last season, Borussia will not play in any European Cup this season.
