Alex Antetokounmpo became a member of the PAOK basketball team until the end of the current season from Tuesday (22/10). The younger brother of the Greek Freak belonged to Podgorica from Montenegro, but terminated his contract and moved to Thessaloniki to strengthen the “Biceps of the North”.
“KAE PAOK mateco announced the agreement with the basketball player Alexander Antetokounmpo, who will play for our team until the end of the 2024-25 season. We welcome Alex to the big PAOK family,” the statement said.
Who is Alex Antetokounmpo?
Alexandros Emeka Antetokounmpo was born in Athens on August 27, 2001 and is the youngest of the Antetokounmpo brothers and the fourth after Giannis, Thanasis and Kostas to play professional basketball. He is 2m.03 tall, he plays as a forward and with PAOK he will make his first appearance in the GBL.
Alex Antetokounmpo played basketball in the USA and Dominican High School. In 2020, despite having scholarship offers from famous American universities, he would prefer to come to Europe and play the 2020-21 season in Spain with Murcia. He played in one game in the ACB, and with his second team he played in Liga EBA and in his first game on 10/18/2020 he scored 28 points on 6/9 three-pointers.
In the 2021-22 season, he played in the G-League with the Raptors 905 in 15 games (averaging 2.6 points and 1.4 rebounds), and during the last season (2022-23), he played in 32 games with the Wisconsin Herd. in the G-League averaged 5.8 points and 3 rebounds. On 3/22/2023 he had his best game, scoring 20 points and grabbing 10 rebounds in a 129-114 win over Grand Rapids.
During the 2023-24 season, he first played in the G-League with the Wisconsin Herd (5.9 points and 3.3 rebounds in 34 games), then he played in Lithuania with Mazeikai (8 points, 2.3 rebounds in 13 games).
At the beginning of this season, he played in Montenegro with Podgorica, with whom he managed to play in three matches, to continue his career in PAOK.
