Our basketball player Alexander Vezenkov again proved to be the most important player of “Olympiakos” at a decisive moment.
Bulgaria’s No. 1 athlete scored 17 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for a double-double, helping the Greek team win its first victory of the new season in the EuroLeague. Reasonably, he was named MVP.
The team led by head coach Georgios Bartsokas led by 18 points against Zalgiris in the first half, but the guests from Lithuania took advantage of the relaxation among the team from Piraeus and Olympiakos had to fight hard for the final success 74:68. Vezenkov’s sure shot from the penalty line brought peace to the others in red teams to the delight of the crowd.
“Zalgiris” is a very good team and in the first round they beat “Barcelona”. For me, the most important thing is to help the others in our team,” commented Vezenkov. The former most valuable player in the strongest club tournament on the continent was logically designated as #1.
In the following week, Olympiakos hosts Olympia (Milan) on October 15th and will visit Anadolu Efes in Istanbul on the 18th.
