Over the past few months, the chipset used in the Galaxy S25 series has been a point of contention. Since Samsung confidently named the Exynos 2500 during its recent earnings call, the chip was expected to be used in some Galaxy S25 series devices. However, this might not be the case, as all units reportedly use the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor globally.
All Galaxy S25 Variants Will Likely Feature Snapdragon 8 Elite Globally
After Samsung MX head TM Roh appeared on stage during the announcement of the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor earlier this week, it was suggested that this chip would be used in the Galaxy S25 series. Reliable tipster Ice Universe (@UniverseIce) has now claimed that all the Galaxy S25 series devices—Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 Ultra—will use the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip globally.
Additionally, it’s claimed that the Exynos 2500 and MediaTek 9400 chips won’t be used in any Galaxy S25 variant. This news is excellent for Samsung fans who want to see only Qualcomm chips in flagship smartphones.
This year, Samsung used the Exynos 2400 chip in the Galaxy S24 and the Galaxy S24+ in all countries except Canada, China, and the USA. The Galaxy S24 Ultra utilized the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 For Galaxy chipset worldwide.
The Exynos 2500 was expected to be a huge leap forward due to its second-generation 3nm process from Samsung Foundry and newer-generation Arm CPU cores. However, it is rumored that Samsung can’t make enough chips that pass quality testing, which led to the decision to drop the Exynos chip from the Galaxy S25 lineup.
For consumers, the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip being used in all Galaxy S25 units is good news. Recent tests have shown that the chip is extremely fast, with its CPU almost matching Apple’s flagship chip, the A18 Pro, while its GPU is both faster and more power-efficient than the A18 Pro. As a result, the Galaxy S25 series is expected to offer outstanding performance along with good power efficiency.
