AMD addresses a rare issue in which a software update prevents Windows from booting

by time news

belbalady.net Chip maker AMD has acknowledged a problem with the drivers for its graphics cards, and explained the cause.

Since mid-February, users of AMD graphics cards have reported cases where installing drivers for them prevented Windows from booting completely.

Despite reports appearing on various social media and forums, AMD has been late in issuing any official statement regarding the issue.

Now, the company says it has been able to reproduce the problem, identifying the (factory reset) option in the Adrenaline driver package as the main problem.

This issue, which was reported earlier this year, was suspected to be a bug in the Adrenalin 23.2.1 driver package.

(AMD) told PCWorld that it had discovered a defect that could lead to a no-boot scenario after selecting the software (factory reset) option during driver installation.

The company added: “We have reproduced an issue that may occur in a very small number of cases if a PC update occurs during the installation of AMD: Adrenaline Edition software, and we are actively investigating.”

We recommend users to ensure that all operating system updates are applied or paused before installing drivers, and to deselect the (factory reset) option during the process of installing AMD drivers.

“We are committed to resolving issues as quickly as possible and strongly encourage users to submit AMD: Adrenalin Edition software issues via the bug report tool,” the company said.
