Chennai: The Chennai Motor Vehicle Accident Compensation Tribunal has ordered a compensation of Rs 33.34 lakh to the parents of a private bank officer who died after being hit by a water truck.
Krishnamurthy, 23, from Korukuppet area, Chennai; Private Bank Officer. He was traveling on his two-wheeler on 21 Jan., 2021, on Valdox Road.
Then, the water truck coming from behind hit the two-wheeler.
In this, Krishnamurthy stumbled and fell down and got caught in the wheel of the lorry and died on the spot.
In this case, the mother Vadivambal and father Velu filed a case in the Chennai Motor Vehicle Accident Compensation Tribunal demanding compensation of 60 lakh rupees for the death of their son.
The case came up for trial before Small Claims Court Judge Thangamani Ganesh. After arguments from both sides, the judge delivered the verdict:
High speed and careless operation of the water truck was the cause of the accident.
Therefore, as compensation to the petitioners, 33.34 lakh rupees with interest at 7.5 per cent per annum should be paid by the United India Insurance Company Limited.
It says so.
