Israeli media reported that “the United States of America intends to send generals to develop plans for the proposed operation in the city of Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip.”

Israeli Channel 13 quoted American officials as saying, “The administration of President Joe Biden intends to send American generals to discuss with Israeli army officers operational plans in Rafah.”

The channel reported, “The American generals are expected to arrive soon in Tel Aviv and meet with senior Israeli military officials.”

The Israeli channel reported, “The army has begun preparations to launch an operation in Rafah in the event of the collapse of prisoner negotiations. It has also begun taking actual steps, including beginning to isolate the city and preparing to evacuate civilians.”

The channel added, “Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered the purchase of 40,000 tents from China to set up in Gaza in preparation for the ground operation in Rafah.”

In this context, White House spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre said, “Netanyahu’s office agreed to reschedule the Israeli delegation’s visit to Washington to discuss the possible military operation in Rafah.”

In turn, US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said: “A limited military operation in Rafah can eliminate the remaining Hamas leaders.”
