The Iraqi Club Athletics Championship competitions will begin tomorrow morning, Thursday, at the Franso Hariri Stadium track in the city of Erbil, with the participation of approximately 75 clubs for all categories and both genders over a period of three days.
The Executive Director of the Game Federation, Zaidoun Jawad, told the (INA), today, Wednesday: “The Federation will hold a technical conference this evening for the participating clubs to discuss the tournament curriculum, hand over the players their participation numbers, and confirm all the technical details.”
Jawad added, “The throwing races specifically will be at the Salah al-Din University Stadium, while the track and field races will be at Franso Hariri Stadium for three consecutive days, with morning and evening periods.”
Jawad pointed out, “The third round competitions are important, and in light of them, the general league champion will be determined. The federation’s vision will also be determined according to the numbers for foreign tournaments, as well as qualifying distinguished people from the age groups for the talent support project supervised by the Olympic Committee in preparation for the Olympic Games in Los Angeles in 2028.”
