The Center for Energy Development and New Sciences (CERNN) will be built in Vratsa, the press center of the Ministry of Education reports. Today, the Minister of Education and Science, Prof. Galin Tsokov, participated in the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation for the implementation of the project, in which a number of state and municipal institutions are included as parties.
“Education is a holistic process, and this project unites knowledge with practice. Students will have practical training and will be able to implement in practice the competence approach – the construction and acquisition of soft skills, which is actually the idea of modern education systems,” said the minister at the signing . According to him, the current initiative is an example of fruitful cooperation between educational institutions, business and local government.
“Education is the future, and the future is always related to dreams. That’s why I perceive this project as a dream for a more educated and faster developing Bulgaria, in which there are even more opportunities for children to choose to stay here,” the minister also noted.
The project envisages the construction of a Regional Technological High School by 2027, which will attract students from all over North-West Bulgaria. Modern dormitories will be provided for the youth. The creation of university buildings of the Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” and the Technical University-Sofia, as well as a center for development activities. Financing is planned to be provided under Integrated Territorial Development.
The purpose of the new center is to train specialists in the field of energy, computer science and new technologies. Alongside this, research will be carried out and business will be worked on to address workforce shortages in key sectors such as energy and high technology.
The project also includes the creation of an industrial zone where the graduates will be able to realize themselves professionally. In parallel with this, they will have the opportunity to continue their education in the buildings of the Sofia University and the Technical University – Sofia. Talks have already been held with large technology companies that are interested in developing activities in the future center.
The event was also attended by the Minister of Energy Vladimir Malinov, the rector of SU “St. Kliment Ohridski” Prof. Georgi Valchev, the executive directors of the Bulgarian Energy Holding Valentin Nikolov and Galina Todorova, representatives of institutions, civil organizations, etc.
Today’s meeting was hosted by the mayor of the municipality of Vratsa, Kalin Kamenov.
